Leap Year

I spent my day watching movies and teaching my niece mathematics. She’s on her final exams. I also helped create a study time table for her, so that she sticks to it. I could see that she was bitten by the procrastination bug, she wanted to postpone her studies to the next day, hence the time table.  I could feel the fracture move yesterday, it was painful but doctor said that it’s all part of the healing procedure.

Alone!

No one is going to pick you up when you fall! What’s worse is when your own flesh and blood, don’t care even if you’re dead. When you fall, people who are close show their true colours. I have realised that I am alone and I have to pick myself  and lean on my own spine, with special thanks to the kindness shown by far relatives and friends.

Stitches Removed

Ujwal took me to the Baptist Hospital, to get my stitches removed. I thought it will hurt a lot, but it felt like pulling out scabs. I am healing well. The doctor also put a cast for a month, I’ll be able to walk for a bit using both my legs after a week. Now it’s time for my bones to set. I moved my ankle today while the dressing was removed it wasn’t as mobile as it used to be. Another month before the wire inside my nine comes off.

Taking classes!

I took classes today! It was difficult to sit on a chair but I made it through the gruesome 45 minutes, then I took all the online classes from bed thanks to the bed table that Solomon lended me and all set up ergonomically by Ujwal. I just have to get through this one day at a time.

Massage + Guitar

Ujwal massaged my leg and I felt it coming back to life. Later Solomon came over and we jammed! I was sitting up to play after a very long time. Solomon and Ujwal went to Jethros to get some burgers. Then we played some more music and he showed me some John Mayer tunes to play and we jammed on “Why Georgia”.

Stabbing pain!

I’ve never felt pain like this before. I have a needle in my bone and every night it’s like someone stabbing you in the foot! The day seems to be ok. I’m wondering if this is normal.

Thankful

Mother, nephew, niece, neighbours, friends, family.  I’m thankful  I’m grateful

Workout : even when I didn’t want to

I stayed in bed all day and didn’t feel like doing anything. It hurt a lot when I stood up, I felt the blood rush to my feet. I just wanted to rest it out. Ujwal got me out of bed, he told me take a walk. I walked with the crutches even though it hurt. I did some workout for my back and legs.

Healing!

I am healing, it hurts when there’s a blood rushing into my leg when I stand up. Doctor said I am healing internally, externally it looks ok.  Ujwal did a massage for me with the electric massager today and my back felt  good. I missed the full fledged workouts. I also feel bad that I’m not doing anything productive. Tomorrow will be a big change! I promise!

Rosu’s birthday

It was Rosanna’s birthday today. Lini got her home, I couldn’t prepare well for procuring gifts for her, so I took Solo’s help again to buy some things for her. Jayden also joined us for the party. The kids loved to dance around as well.  Joy uncle visited me as well. We talked about surgical experiences and also insurance. I ordered some food for the kids, then Solo hung out with me for a bit. My back hurts equally as my feet. I think it’s because I’ve not been working out. Looking forward to getting a good sleep tonight.

Medicines done!

I had my last pain killer and antibiotics in the morning. My leg feels tingly all the time with pain. I have localized pain around the wound. Im also not sleeping well! I exercised all by myself, I’m keeping myself occupied by playing chess.  Later I felt a sharp pain on my hip and back possibly due to sitting and walking awkwardly. I need healing quickly!

Pastor’s visit

Pastor visited me today and prayed for me. Sam and family, Jude and family were there as well.  After they left, Jude and Sharmi joined me for lunch. It was a lot of discomfort for my feet. I felt my feet tingling. But still I got some exercises done with the help of Ujwal.

Lunch from Sahana aunty!

I went up to the 1st floor today with Sebin’s help.. I stayed there for a few hours and then came down all by myself. Then I cleaned my music school space with the help of my niece. Sahana aunty visited me, she got me some lunch, it had fish curry and fish fry! I enjoyed the lunch. So nice of her to come by.   I taught my niece computers and took a nap, then Solomon came over and helped we with some workouts. I felt the blood rushing into my feet so I stopped. I booked appointment with Dr. Sam for my mom, she was not well, so Sebin bought me some egg fried rice from uncle kitchen. Then Andy called me and I got on discord with the boys.

Day 4!

Andy and Solo came by in the evening and I spent a lot of time with them. Ujwal drove us to Shettihalli circle and I had a tinder coconut. It was nice stepping out for a bit. I found it real hard to sit in the car but I adjusted somehow. I must stay home and not go out much.

Doctors appointment!

2 Days after surgery, I had my doctors appointment. On examination, she affirmed that it’s healing quite well. I’m in a lot of pain even though I’m in pain killers. It’s taking a toll on my posture and all the workouts that I did. Solomon came by in the evening and helped me with some workout. I hope I get some sleep.

Pain!!

I stayed in the hospital for 1 night and a day after the surgery. Ujwal had to leave suddenly and I was left with no one, my mom suggested to ask Solomon as she couldn’t come, she had stomach upset.  I called Solomon and o one I could depend on him. He took time off his work and showed up. The hospital made him run around a lot and he did everything without complaining, a true stoic soul! I owe him one! So when his wife is pregnant, I told him I’ll get through the billing for him. Finally we reached home in a cab. And I was so glad that we reached home! Then, the pain began, I kept feeling a constant stab kinda pain under my foot. It still hurts! It’s gonna be  long night.  My niece is helping me get my things! Such a sweet heart my kees is!!!

Leg > Bike

I met with an accident today! To save my new bike I used my leg to cushion its fall! I have a crack on my middle toe bone! I had gone to Saptagiri hospital initially, the first doctor who operated on me was a student, he was learning to stitch on my leg. During the stitch, I insisted that a real doctor do this. Then the next guy there tried adjusting my bone back over the stitch without knowing that it’s stitched. I was in soo much pain.  Then we decided to go to Baptist hospital, I got admitted and got my surgery done. Atleast I saved my bike.

Respect!

Respect is earned. I am fighting hard to earn that respect. I show up and I’m on time! I get things done even when I’m not appreciated. I work hard even when by body cannot! I call out people (that matter to me) on their bullshit!. I get involved for the people that matter to me. I’m a great teacher, but I can get better. I’m a dutiful student but I could be more dedicated!  I will not respect you, if you don’t keep your word. if you’re lazy, if you are not taking care of yourself and your family, if you are just a blabbermouth, if you are selfish and only try to make your own life easy without a care for others you live with, I will not respect you.  My mom Saleela has my respect! She’s aging! I’m going to miss her when she’s gone! I will be kind and caring and will only listen  to her!  Solomon’s dad has my respect! Ujwal’s dad has my respect. Sahana aunty has my respect! The rest of the world needs to catch up!

Laughter!

We meet at church and hung out for a bit. I took my niece to church and she enjoyed the “fun day” they were having there. We had to leave early as I worried she will fall sick again. In the evening we went to Fanoos with the boys. Lot of jokes were cracked, food was had and songs were sung. We also stopped at a dry fruit shop. We dropped Sebin to the railway station and we drive back through the 11:00 pm traffic in the Tumkur highway.

Nothing Eventful

Today was just an ordinary Saturday. I woke up into a class, I had classes till 11:00 then I took a short nap of sorts, but I had to order lunch from Mrs Anandam Thomas! I portered biryani. Right after my lunch at 1:45, was classes again. I worked till about 5:15 and I was done!  Then I did my piano assignments and took my niece to the Doctor, and by the time I was back it was 8:30!! I practiced some more piano and hit the bed!   PS: I also ordered a blueberry cheese cake today from Mrs Anandam Thomas. It was delicious, but I had to split it with Ujwal and Sebin!

Walk!

I walked in the old park that I used to before, today. There were rain water harvesting set up around the trees, the lock tiles were sprinkled with shedding leaves and twigs. Some girls were making reels, a man was laughing, watching comedy on YouTube. There was an old woman resting on one of those park benches. I had a 30 minute walk and headed back home.

Chetak service 2

I got my scooter back! My charger is replaced. The cable is quite long and I don’t need an extension cable anymore. I’m not very happy with the wash, the polish left an oily appearance on the scooter. I also ordered a mat and a cover for the scooter. Hopefully it will keep the cats away that will claw on the wires.

Chetak service

I got a call from Chetak, they wanted to replace my charger and a bush. I’m not sure why they wanted to do Bb that, the bike was due for its first service as well. The service center person didn’t look like he loved his job. He kept telling customers to leave and come back another day. I insisted that they do the service today itself, as I came from far and it was a Chetak representative who called me. They took my bike in and I hope they do a good job now!

Ryan George!

Ryan George is one of my best students, he picks up the techniques easily and has a genuine interest in music. He always keeps a guitar on his bed and whenever he sees it, he plays. I am teaching Ryan all the things I’ve have learnt, I find him a worthy student, he’s just in a quest for learning and not to show off. Hoping I see him play live soon.

U2 cover band!

While I was playing with Allegro Fudge, a promoter wanted us to do a U2 tribute. The event manager told us all to come in like rock stars and play at Brigade Road. The plan was we will land on Brigade Road in a flashy car, paid actors would come and get our autographs and we would play at an under-construction building for all to see at Brigade. We signed the deal and started rehearsals. There was one problem, None of us looked like Rockstars! Except Kishan  The paid actors, clueless flocked to Kishan for his autograph and completely ignored the rest of the band, especially me!! Sigh I was the most Un-rockstar type. To make things even hilarious, Jason showed up on his three fourth shorts and a fluorescent orange slippers! Kishan was barely seen from  behind the drums. No one listened to our show I think, The sound was dust for us and camera I guess! But we did stop a crowd at Brigade!

Cheating on piano assignments and getting caught

I had the most humbling experience recently. My piano teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth gave me a lot of assignments to finish and I found it piling up each day. I found it really difficult to recall notes and even say the finger numbers and play. So, I jotted it all down in a tiny hand writing above the notes. Mrs Elizabeth must’ve been flabbergasted with that flawless performance, she asked, “Did you write it down Anish?” I reluctantly agreed. And then I got the most dreaded long message from her.  Hi Anish Yes by writing in the finger numbers and letter names you have made it so easy that it is of no benefit.  There is no learning or growth because you are  reading numbers and letters rather than training to read and interpret patterns It is like somebody who goes to the gym and wants to become fit and strong and says the 10 kg weights are too heavy. So instead of actually building up their own lifting capacity from half a kg to 10 kg they use a machine where they only have to press a button

Truffles

Solo, Andy, Ujwal, Sebin and I went to truffles today. We were in a fun mood and booked the table in one of our ex’s name and number as well. The food was good and after that we went to Milanos, skipped the usual icecream and settled for random dessert. We chatted until 11:30 and came back home late.

CCTV!

Today I met Saju to get the CCTV cameras fixed. I got a quote form him and we saw how different areas of my house can be covered with this and we came up with camera positions. The next step would be to put up the wires before the painting work begins.

Painting : checklist

I started making a checklist of work to be done for the painting work at home. The process included taking visual cues and talking to parents. There are also things like rearranging my wardrobe, getting cameras fixed etc. hopefully the lists will be done soon.
