Receding hairline

I have been anxious about my receding hairline since school days. I also assumed I will go bald by my early twenties but, I still have kept most of it on my head and I’m happy growing hair. Maybe I’ll lose it all but the bright side is that I still have it as I near my forties. Just trying to be happy with with what I have and sweep the rest of it away like some lost hair!

Knowledge < Action

I meet a lot of students who absorb all the music theory taught to them and there’s hardly any application of it on the instrument. They approach music as a “head thing” and completely neglects the practicality of it. So like Herbert Spencer once said, “The great aim of education is not knowledge but action”.

Guitar tech

I’m quite happy with the new guitar pedal software systems that are around now a days. I use positive grid’s BIAS FS2! I have been getting great sounds from this plugin. Inspiring ideas!

Perfectly imperfect

The Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi finds beauty in imperfection. I always strive for perfection, but the outcome almost always leads to a lot of dissatisfaction.  A cup of water sitting still can easily disturbed by a grain of sand! Your perfect spouse will age, you will age and have wrinkles. A broken cup can be fixed with some melted gold (kintsugi). Perfectly imperfect.  So, strive for perfection. accept the imperfection from the outcome, accept it’s uniqueness! After all, you are perfectly imperfect.

Denzil

Spoke to Denzil for an hour today and we discussed how he prepares meals for himself. He survives on breakfast biscuits and meals he prepares twice a week. He spends 3 hours to prepare 2 kg meals, stores them in small containers. This is something to try.

Lazy

Today was one of those days I just couldn’t get up from my bed. I did not do the 5:30 am shower and yoga. I just didn’t want to. I fought myself and got myself out of the bed to brush and take my meds. But, I really didn’t want to. Why this happens is maybe because I need to up my will power a little bit more.

Mushroom

Mom and I got some mushroom spores from Hesarghatta and we put them in a grow bag. It is tedious to get them in a grow bag, we are hoping it will bear mushrooms. The mushroom variety we are expecting is lions mane and oyster. Fingers crossed.

Finished the New Testament

Being a Christian, I’ve never read the Bible in its entirety. I have been reading Bible everyday to achieve this goal. Sometimes I get profound answers from the passages and sometimes it’s just mindless reading just to get through it. I started with Genesis and I plan to read the Old Testament now! Let’s do this!

New pickup

I installed Evo 2 near the ibanez bridge pickup. I’m yet to test it out, it sounded really loud in Soundglitz. Thanks to Akhai for setting up ur floyd rose bridge and installing pickup! Now to play some metal!

Bike servicing

My Activa went for a major service. The carburetor needs to be changed, the break plates needs to be changed. Fixing it for ₹6000 will help me run it for a year or two without needing to upgrade to a new bike I’m hoping!

Meeting Jayanth uncle and Helen aunty

I met uncle and aunty today! We spoke about their younger days and how the place has changed! The entire area was paddy field once up on a time. We also spoke about homeopathy and how it’s all changed now. Even the price of things. Quite a delightful evening.

Blood tests

I’m very much afraid of the outcome of these blood tests. Something is always wrong and we are always asked to maintain some range set for the average population. What if I’m not average? Aren’t we all individually different with our own allergies and food preferences?

3 Things

3 things I want to add to my routine everyday for atleast 20 minutes.  1. Clean everyday even something small.  2. Learn music  3. Read

Really Super!

If you ask me anytime about how my life is going, I’m gonna respond “Really Super! Touch wood”. I learnt this from Kirtana. She’s the most positive person I’ve met. Never seen her complain or being rude to anyone. She’s a presence that you want around! She’s always positive!

Never give up but..

Never give up! Take up the weight you can bear and commit to not giving that up. Often we join a guitar class or a gym or even promise to do something and then are not committed to it or we do a bad job of it half heartedly. Instead, choose wisely then commit to that. Never give up!

Cafe Metanoia, Cherian

Today I drove to deliver some dragon fruit plants to Miriam at cafe Metanoia. There I met her husband Sam, he prayed for me. I also met Mykel, who tattooed my back, back in 2009. Then I drove to Cherian’s place and also met his wife Kritika, sisters Sana, Sanjana and Anila aunty. I had lunch there and can’t back home with a mic stand and an amp! He asked me to also take care of his Music Man, John Petrucci series guitar. Then I drove back!

New morning routines

I’m waking early at 5:00/5:30. After brushing I take a shower and start my yoga practices. By 7:00 am I am energized and start my day with a glass of cucumber juice. Im noticing some changes in my body and I’m feeling great. The biggest lesson I can take away is that, in order to wake early you need to sleep early. I’m hoping I can go over this routine.

Dragon fruits

I harvested about 7 dragon fruits from one of the many plants that mom grew on the terrace a few days ago. These plants required initial care and then like cactus, it completely grew on negligence. No matter how bad the situation was they always put out fruits!

Drive to Hesarghatta

I drove my parents and niece to them dairy farm in Hesarghatta. We took long walks besides the pastures and on our way back bought 10 kgs of papayas and 2 big jackfruits. One ripe and the other raw. Dad saw someone climbing the jackfruit tree and enquired the price. We also stopped for some neer dosa and mushroom fries on our way back.

Giving up on game nights

Game nights keep me up with lights constantly hitting my eyes, disrupting sleep. So I decided to call it quits. I miss playing, but it’s all about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So here I am and off to sleep I go.

Yoga

I started another session of yoga, with a bunch of practices I can do lying down! This is the last session of angamardana. Difficult to do! But yes! I will!

Reading

I read for 20 minutes a day. I keep a timer on and have an absolute non disturbed reading. I also try not to get distracted and focus only on reading. If my mind wanders I try to bring it back to the reading. Practising focus.

Cycling with Natalia

Natalia and I went to De’needs today on her cycle. I helped her balance on it. She was afraid I will let go even though there were small added support tyres. I did let go for a little bit and she couldn’t believe she was doing it!

Past, present and future

The present is already ruined with the experiences from the past and the uncertainty of the future! Does one need to live like that? There’s no other way to live than the now! Face it! God be your courage.

Catching up

I caught up with Mahesh and Ravi, yesterday after years. Had chola bhatura for lunch and that was the tastiest dish I’ve had in a long time. We spoke about the music scene, plans for future and also meditation and aging, taking responsibilities. It poured and rained heavily by the time I left the place. It took me 3 hours to reach home among all that traffic.

Goddess

Men with burning flames of desire  Gravitates to the goddess,  They think she’s fire,  Like moth to flame they flock around her.  Their thirst for flesh  Dehydrates them Their sparks bursts into flames  Burning them.  Then the goddess,  Puts out their fires of desire  She’s like water  She soothes the burning souls.

Cucumber juice

As I ate, I’m seeking remedies to prevent organ failures. Heard of this cucumber juice 3 times a day to bring in alkalinity in the body to reduce acidity. Apparently this will reduce mucus formation in the long run and bring down inflammation. So the humble cucumber is going to be devoured in TONS!!

Yellow

Shoots from underground  Feeds on filth  Fragrant leaves when bruised It’s roots are medicine.

Super mom

I teach music to Ivan, Abel and Hannah! Their mom is a super mom. I had a long conversation with her today, because their kids are always engaged with something to do and they have time for everything! This is their routine.   5:00 am wake up  6:00 am tennis/workout or music class  7:30 am school  4:00 pm play time  6:00 pm studies/tuition/music practice  9:30 pm sleep  Hannah says, “by the time it’s 9:30 we are super tired we cannot stay up”  It’s Mrs and Mr Thomas that drives the kids and constantly behind them. It’s quite different from the over glorified “working moms” who ignore their kids completely. Not saying working mom’s are bad, it’s just a privilege to have that choice of being a stay at home mom. There is a rising population of irresponsible mothers and fathers. And this family is quite some relief for a music teacher like myself.
