YouTube Rental!

Image
It was around 2:30 am! I just couldn’t sleep. I was on Instagram, saw this reel about a prisoner escaping the prison and looting a vault and then getting back to prison undetected. I had to watch this movie. I looked through the comments and found the name of the movie. It was Logan Lucky.  I searched for it, And finally found it was available to purchase on YouTube! And that’s what I did. The movie was great.  I especially like how organised the criminals are. They pay attention to detail and always have a backup plan and know when to get out.  Also, the criminals have integrity amongst themselves. They just trust their kind. There’s a sense of belonging and brotherhood. They have each other’s back. The rest just gets caught.  This movie also portrays Logan’s bond with his daughter. He would just do anything to be with her. It is implied he played a role in transforming her from being a “diva” to being a proper country girl with his fatherly humor in the end.

Fixing My Yamaha Digital Piano

Image
My digital piano had some issue, it played beats by itself, probably because my maid used Colin to wipe and clean it. It was a critical time now that I have my students preparing for exams and the piano is quite expensive. So, I decided to get it serviced. Yamaha quoted about 6k + other charges to fix this. I felt this was overpriced. Also, they would change the entire board plus transporting it in my car was impossible.  Soon I learnt Martin, the violinist who lived just down the road repaired keyboards. So I got in touch with him. It took us a couple of hours and ₹200 worth micro switches to replace. The keyboard is working perfectly as of now!

Dreamy Consciousness

He found himself caught between wakefulness and sleep. In wakefulness, reality took over; in sleep, dreams. Lately, he noticed the boundaries crossfading into each other.  Dreaming in wakefulness, at the same time, strangely aware within his dreams.   Half-asleep in the middle of the night, he played chess with strangers across the world. Victory came often, and he was surprised at his own brilliance, especially because it was at that time of the hour. Was it truly him playing, or merely the dreamy-consciousness at work?   He woke before the alarm, again and again. Another day, another week, another month. Time turned its pages; slow in the present, and fast when he looked back at the past.

Headache

Image
I had a crazy headache yesterday! It was as though there was fire inside my head! I just couldn’t function. It was the first time I felt something like that. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. It eventually subsided. But I’m so sleepy today, I want to finish one more class and nap till 3:00 pm today. I’ll be better after that nap!  Today’s classes got over one after another. I didn’t feel it being tedious. I was surprisingly alert and was patient. Didn’t loose my cool with the students. Looks like the new diet is responsible for all this. The body will have to get adjusted. Can’t wait for the bloodwork and investigations to come out next week.

Fox’s wedding.

Image
It’s a rare occurrence to have both sun and rain at the same time. A sun shower happened yesterday around noon time. My granny used to point out that it was fox’s wedding everytime this happened.  The sun shower itself is a paradox. The sun; light, joy happening at once with rain; tears, sorrow. It’s like being in two moods at the same time.  The sun shower feels like it’s a trick, and that maybe why it’s associated with a sly fox, holding a secret wedding.  The fox’s wedding can also symbolize love that’s hidden and unconventional.  But whatever the meaning, I like it when both sunshine and rain meets during the day, just for the rainbows.

Extinction blues

Image
He squatted and let go of a giant prehistoric poop. With his short hands he swatted away some flies settling on his chest, but the flies mocked him by flying around his nose, where his hands couldn’t reach!  Shaking them off he looked up. “What’s that? A giant meatball in the sky!” His mouth opened, ready to catch it. But the fiery meatball kept growing, almost doubling in size every second!   That’s when it hit him! this wasn’t food, this was the end. Suddenly he felt the extinction blues.   He wished someone had already invented the wheel and saved him. But no, nothing. Just him, his poop, some flies and a giant meatball in the sky that grew bigger and bigger. Still, he stood proudly. “Soon,” he told himself, “I will be a fossil in a museum.”  The earth shook violently as the meteor made contact on the steamy, fresh, hot T-Rex poop, wiping out all life. Well almost. Some of his relatives survived.  Yes the cockroaches made it and they are now raiding your kitc...

Some Time Long Ago

Some time long ago,  Birds lined the telephone wires,  And sweaters kept us warm.  Cream buns and apple cake; luxurious snacks,  Brigades and Commercials felt like home.   A school bus pass meant freedom, Tazos and Trump cards filled our pockets.  Archie’s and Tinkle passed from hand to hand,  Petty shops where stories waited.   Guavas and mangoes; every season had its share,  National Market gave us brands we dreamed of.  Strummed every guitar at Reynolds.  Cassettes and CDs were collected.  Missed calls carried love in silence.  We caught up face to face.  Now, it’s both better and worse.  We are growing,  Growing weary. The years pass,  And time gathers in our bones.
