Finishing a book

After completing the 75 hard challenge, I haven’t read a single book in its entirety! I’m currently reading a small book called Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, by a Japanese author Satoshi Yagisawa. It’s a simple book, throws a picture of how life is in Japan. This book is taking forever to read. Maybe I’m not motivated enough to just read or it’s because I’m not reading for pleasure. I’m reading to retain information. Where did the fun in reading go?  I got a lot of books in my reading list. The plan is to read them before I sleep. I have 20 odd more pages to go. Looking forward to finishing it!

The Power of Perspective

When you change the way you look at something, the thing you are looking at changes! I came across this thought provoking quote from a musician I admire many years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since. The change here does not refer to a physical change in the object or situation, but rather a shift in the perspective of the observer. This shift can bring a sense of inner peace, acceptance, and reassuring positivity. The way we interpret the world is heavily influenced by our past experiences, beliefs, emotions, and external influences. These factors shape the outcome of how we perceive any situation. By consciously altering the way we think about something, we can find peace even in difficult circumstances. This is especially powerful for overthinkers. Choosing to imagine a different, more positive outcome helps us develop a sense of healthy detachment. This detachment doesn’t mean indifference; it simply gives us space: space to breathe, space for clarity, and space to welcome n...

Silence

All this noise,  Inside your head,  Outside your head,  Is not going to resolve.  Chaos! Lies!  Deception!  Distortion!  So… Wait, one day there will be  Silence.

Edit 365

She combed her hair, touched up her makeup, lined her eyes, pouted for a selfie, and decided to post every day. “ This will grow my audience. This will get eyes on my posts. Maybe some of my crushes will see .” Day 1 of 365  — She walked, camera on her feet. She balanced the phone on a wall, walked past it, came back, did it again. This time, the wind caught her hair. She chose that take. A providing mother, she posted her lunch prep. that her cook finished, and plated it. Day 2 of 365  — Park time with the kids. One in a stroller, one running ahead. The camera was rolling. Her neon shoes matched the pace of the music. She winked goodbye to her audience at the end. Day 3 of 365   — Mystery man with no face, holding her kids. Supposedly her husband, hidden from the public. The shot faded to a rain-speckled windshield with ambient music in the background. Day 4 of 365  — Just a book on the couch. The video ended on a cup of half drunk coffee beside the bookmarked book ...

Willpower vs Distractions

I tried writing this blog a few times today, but every time I began, I got pulled away with thoughts, videos, or random sounds. It’s funny how the things that distract us always win. It could be a phone call right when you’ve finally sat down to do some focused work or a video that tempts you just as you’re getting into the zone. What can be done? I’ve come to realize that it all narrows down to  willpower,   our ability to say “ NO”  to the things that break our focus. The more we practice choosing to focus, the stronger that willpower becomes. Little things as, doing the bed as soon as you wake up, or doing the dishes right after a meal is a way to begin practising willpower.

Weak-end

It’s the weekend!  You had a long week, Worked your ass off! Now it’s your time,  Sip some drinks,  Dream of someone else,   And get your warmth elsewhere,  It’s your weak-end friend,  It’s your weak-end.

Yatin Kalki

Image
Last night was surreal! I met THE Yatin Kalki at Zui’s farm. He’s a very passionate wildlife biologist! While he went on a walk to look for snakes and other animals we worked on a new song. He caught a small Yellow Collared Wolf Snake, and called to show us. It kept biting him, and he assured us it’s non venomous. He also showed us a Checkered Keel Back right outside on Zui’s pond. We hung out after his herp-walk, and he shared wild stories and facts about many nocturnal animals especially Slender Loris, who happen to be carnivorous and even catch birds to eat! He really has a keen eye to find animals in the dark, thanks to his fancy powerful headlight. After that insightful conversation, we bid goodbyes and crashed quite late!
