Back home!!

Reached Bangalore in the morning and was surprised to see a thin layer of dust over everything! I needed to rest, but cleaning must begin today, starting from the work space, my studio. I’m planning to clean over this week before I leave to Goa.

Leaving Kerala

I’m packing my bags to Bangalore. It’s been almost a month here with great food, fresh air, great people and some adventures. Now it’s time to be back home and get back to routine. I’m looking forward to getting back to my gardening and also Goa!

Kuzhipallam Botanical Garden

I went to the Kuzhipallam Botanical Garden today with my cousin. They had a lot of fruit trees, lake and pond plants indoor plants. I was more intrigued by mangosteen plants, perfect for growing in the shade in my backyard.  I also bought Agathi plant, the petals of this plant can be cooked and is very tasty. I made a mistake of not carrying an umbrella and wearing my sunglasses. I came back with a headache.

Reset

I’m planning a trip to Goa on the second week of March. This is a well deserved break where I won’t be working for an entire week. After which, I will be on complete work mode. I have new responsibilities with Zenso developers and also take my classes, gardening, music learning, health, diet etc. up a notch. This break should help reset my routine.

Green Pepper

I bit into some green pepper today. First bite in, I could smell the pepper in my nose. It reminded me of the bulls eye loaded with dry pepper and a pinch of salt that my cousin sister used to make.  Few more bites in, the juices in my mouth released. My tongue felt the sweet sting of pepper. It was as good as eating an omelette I thought.

What churns up your bile?

Is it bad food? Bad vibe? Over exercising? Can anything good churn up your bile? Like the time you kissed someone?

Sizzling Satan

He was furious!  His anger burnt him.  He even passed on the heat around him,  So much that he burnt everything around him.  Then God sent rain. Satan sizzled.

Missing home

I miss home after moving here only because I have lost my routine. I had a time assigned to everything. Can’t wait to get back to it again.

BBQ

Last night I was invited to a BBQ party thrown by niece Sneha and her husband Abin. The food was awesome. The best part of it was shrimp wrapped in lettuce with grated cheese and a drop of lemon. The fresh shrimp tasted different in a good way. Must eat fish near the coast.

Fruit fast

I’m on a fruit fast till about 3:00 pm today. I’m surprised that I had the energy to work out and more even though I was just on water. I’m hoping to see the so claimed benefits of fasting.

Seven Days by Sting

I heard Tony cover this song, yesterday on Instagram. He had arranged all the instruments and also sang it like Sting. There was a strange familiarity in this track, maybe I’ve heard it before. Loved the drumming and the guitar swells in the track. The chorus he literally says all the seven days of the week, quite an interesting song!

Lose with dignity

Did we invent games because we became peaceful from being savages fighting different tribes? Maybe we came to an agreement that killing each other was bad and we can have the glory by selecting best amongst ourselves and put them against opponents from other tribes, states and countries. Even online games are great, to fight side by side with our clans and clash with others.  Everything, these days are  a race, to win. Instead, we should just play the game with full involvement and even take the loss, with all dignity, to a worthier opponent.

Making the ground

I dug another pit for my cousin to plant a coconut tree. It was tiring, especially because it gets hot here in Kerala. Also I had to use a pick axe instead of a rod to dig. New tools, new learnings, breaking into sweats sooner. It’s a good day!

Summer Rain

The air seemed heavy  The land was hot  Water fell from the sky  Sizzled the brown land A certain warmth was felt  Just like mamma’s cuddles  The bright sky was now a please tell dull  and petrichor filled the air.

Jaggery bombs

My cousin made these amazing steamed rice flour balls filled with jaggery and grated coconuts yesterday. Simple dish but very much flavorful. Loved the sweetness and the sticky bite it had. Not oily, super healthy.

Water

You are 75 % me Your thoughts make it sweet  You clean, cook and quench  You are life  You are the most important element  In you I drown

Fasting till 3:30 pm

I fasted today till 3:30 pm. I avoided breakfast, stayed hydrated and ate only about 20 grapes. I had to eat at 3:30 because I had classes afterwards. The fast was broken with the amazing Biryani from the Irani restaurant.

Swimming

Went swimming today at Jimmy George Swimming pool maintained by Kerala’s water authority! We’ll maintained pool and no other takers, my self and my nephews had one hell of a time. I can’t swim, I managed to stay afloat!

Good morning

I’m at the Good Morning hotel in Thiruvananthapuram!! The parottas and beef here are quite famous. Cooked in fire wood, this is an old school restaurant! Reminds me of the time when I used to go to a chaya kada with the grandpa. Yum.

Hrudayam

Went to a Mallu movie after ages to a theater! Nice movie. Never got bored, didn’t realize the film had over 15 songs! The ending was a little meh, but we were all glued to it from start to finish!

25 push-ups nonstop

My nephew challenged me to do 20 push-ups without slowing down! I did 25! And overall I did 75 push-ups today! It feels so good to be capable of doing this, especially to show my nephews the ropes. Feels good!

Zelephant

Once there was an elephant who wanted to have stripes just like the Zebras did. His family told him he can be whoever he wanted to be. So, he went to the local tattoo artist, Mr. Porcupine who used a special mix of ingredients to make a white paste of ink to do the tattoo. The elephant was already dark, he just needed white stripes.  Mr. Porcupine pulled out one of his quills and began working. He also put together a team to the task as they would need more quills and ink for that large canvas of skin. After a few sitting with the tattoo artists, the elephant had his stripes the tattoo artists, even the budding ones, gained experience. The job was lengthy and the skin needed healing.  Months passed, the elephant now didn’t want to be identified as an elephant. He demanded he be called Zelephant and some of them did. Some of them told him to “fuck off”. He was never happy being a mere striped elephant. He eventually found God and requested  him to transform him into a Zebra.  What would

Lulu mall, Trivandrum

I went to Lulu mall. I was quite impressed with their in-house catering near the groceries section. The meat and fish were all reasonably priced and we got everything there except pork based meats.

Meditation

I’m planning to get on to meditating once I get back to Bangalore. I think it’s a great quality to imbibe, to be able to stay focused and train to be attentive. It will also help me organize my thoughts and actions. Maybe meditation can heal as well.

Fever is down

Looks like the fever I had been having was just getting me acclimatised to the humid weather in Kerala. One drive on my nephew’s car today to the city and back kinda fixed it. I stopped taking Dolo,  just ate some good food, to my hearts content. We’ll see how it is tomorrow.

Fever 2

My chest is getting heavier and also low grade fever. I’m managing with just dolo and some rest. I’m also feeling sleepy throughout the day.

Fever

I have a mild fever and body pain, possibly, corona. I don’t feel anything. I feel invincible. Like in some dreamland. Body is just floating about and burning through out. I don’t feel the spicy food I’m eating. But I’m sure I’ll know it the morning after. Chest feels a little more heavier than it is supposed to be. Fingers crossed.
